Who We Are
Community Leaders of the ‘Calling Our Spirit’ Initiative
Tanisi, our names are Melanie and Marion Beeds. We are educators living in Pelican Lake First Nation and have been delivering Saskatchewan curriculum alongside land-based knowledge to children on reserve for over a decade. We are 60’s Scoop survivors, and evidence of the powerful impact that reconnecting with our land and identity can have. We will be working with an eligible registered organisation for this project.

Creating balance and harmony within the family unit while reconnecting communities impacted by the 60’s scoop with their identity and way of life.
Mission
Finding our roots to ground ourselves through traditional parenting and revitalizing relationships with the land and medicines, to ‘Call our Spirit’.

Scope
This year we intend to work with a minimum base of 100 families, approximately 800 individuals. This core cohort will be regularly supplemented with casual attendees from previous programs and surrounding communities and are similarly expected to return for ongoing support and seasonal activities.
